Hi everyone!

So, here’s a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes with the July 11 outreach!  If you are able to help out in any of the following ways please let me know.  I certainly do not want anyone to feel obligated or overcommitted so please only do what you can.  Our time is short and there’s quite a bit to do!  Thanks for helping where you can!

I’m very excited about this outreach for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is because I see this as a powerful day to see how God uses the family of believers to love and encourage each other.  And out of the overflow of that bless those whom our brothers and sisters are reaching out to.  We are going to be so encouraged by our brothers and sisters at Open Arms, World Impact, and the Union Rescue Mission!  And I pray we’ll be of encouragement to their hearts as well.

This will be a busy day full of many opportunities to serve so we want to keep things as streamlined as possible in order to keep from focusing on things and keep the focus on people.  We’re planning for 500 families so we’ll be pre-bagging 1,000 bags (or more we hope!) of groceries and loading up a truck the night before – Friday, July 10 from 5-8pm.

Here’s how some of you may be able help – (July 11 is a regular FP delivery date)

500 Fruit boxes with lids from grocery stores – to stack pre-bagged groceries in and transport by truck (boxed to prevent damage during transport as well as easily store larger quantity)
1,000 grocery bags – reusable is preferred so they’ll be easier for the families to carry, however we’ll take paper for sure if that’s what we can get.
Bread donations? – Panera, Western Bagel, Bible Tabernacle
Grants to shop for supplemental food – from Sams
Supplemental shopping – orders will be placed.  We need people to pick up the items from various stores

Pick oranges – Piru – tentatively week prior in order to utilize the fruit for the outreach.  The owner is checking her schedule in order to confirm a date.  (July 5,6,7,8)

Pre-bag the groceries on Friday, July 10 5-8pm

If you would like to volunteer for either pre-bag or the day of the event just let me know or sign up over the weekend at the information counter.  We’ll be leaving from the church by bus on Saturday morning at 7am sharp!

Thank you!
Sheri

In support of the Food Pantry, Among Friends openly challenged Serve Together(the class that comes in after us) to a contest of non-perishable food items!  We will be collecting and amassing our donations in a corner of room C215(our room) throughout the next few weeks.  So bring on the food!!  This contest will end on Friday May 29th @ 12:01am.  We are going to be counting each item and the most items win.  The plan at this point is to have a pizza dinner on Friday night sometime before or during the set up time, LOSING CLASS TO FOOT THE BILL!!  SO IF YOU DON’T BRING IN FOOD BRING IN MONEY .  Also note that the classroom might be closed during the week so its probably best to bring in your food on Sundays (we will have two of them).  Happy hunting and collecting!!

As a class, let us try and focus on these items:

Pastas
Tomatoe Products
Boxed meals
Instant Potatoes
Canned fruit and veggies
Tuna

The following quotations were taken from a well-known speaker. Please identify the heresies, the doctrinal error (with support from Scripture), and explain the destructive consequences* of holding to such doctrines. (*You can share your opinions here)

Hint: Please pay attention to the use of new terms, and look up Biblical references to see if it has been accurately interpreted in its context. Have fun!

“Ladies and gentlemen, the serpent is a symbol of Satan. Jesus Christ knew the only way He would stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him. ‘What did you say? What blasphemy is this?’ No, you hear this! He did not take my sin, He became my sin. Sin is the nature of hell. Sin is what made Satan. You remember, he wasn ‘t Satan till sin was found in him. Lucifer was perfect till Ezekiel says, sin was found in thee. It was sin that made Satan. Jesus said, ‘I’ll be sin, I’ll go to the lowest place. I’ll go to the origin of it. I won ‘t just take part of it. I’ll be the totality of it. When Jesus became sin, sir, he took it from A-Z and said no more. Think about this. He became flesh that flesh might become like Him. He became death so dying man can live. He became sin so sinners can be righteous in Him. He became one with the nature of Satan so all those who had the nature of Satan can partake of the nature of God”

“When you say I am saved, what are you saying? You are saying, I am a Christian. What does that word mean? It means, I’m anointed. You know what the word anointed means? It means Christ. When you say I’m a Christian, you are saying I am Mashiyach in Hebrew, I am a little messiah walking on earth, in other words. That’s a shocking revelation! We are not, we are not, having, we don’t have apart of Him running around in our stomach feeling goose bumps. His spirit and our spirit-man are one, united. There is no separation, it’s impossible. The new creation is created after God in righteousness and true holiness. The new man is after God, like God, Godlike, complete in Christ Jesus, the new creation is just like God May I say it like this, you are a little god on earth running around.”

“When Jesus came, He did not give us back Adam’s office. He gave us His office. This is why angels to this day cannot rebuke Satan. Jude says, even Michael will not bring an accusation against the devil why? Because angels are lower today than Satan who holds the office of Adam. But we, as joint heirs with Christ in heavenly places, are higher than Adam [background voice says. 'and angels"] and angels. So, today, angels cannot rebuke Satan, but we can, because we are on the same level as the Son on earth. We’re not God, we’re the children of God. We’re god-like in our Spirit man, not in our flesh. Thank God, our flesh will die and we are gonna have a new body. The Bible says, when we shall see Him our bodies shall be like Him, but our spirit man is already like Him.”
