Open Food Pantry – Volunteer Opportunities!

Any day this week and next – we need help handing out invitation flyers around town as well as to specific non-profits.  Please let me know if you can help as you do your errands around town.

 

Friday, December 5 2-5PM pre-boxing gifts for recipients of OFP. 

***FYI*** we still need many of the following:

games (maximum of 12”) – $5 Yahtzee at WalMart will work great,

fleece blankets ($3.97 Mainstays brand/WalMart)

Popcorn, Hot Cocoa or Cider boxes. 

Candy/Snacks will be great for filler as well.

If you are available to help pick up specific items at various local stores please let me know so we can make arrangements.

Friday, December 12 6-9 PM (but if you can come at 1:00 or anytime in the afternoon to move food from C116 to the conference center that would be a great help)

Place: Rich & Starla Sandoval’s home

We are looking forward to getting together as a class and celebrating

the birth of our Lord and the richness He has brought

to our lives this last year.

A fun evening has been planned including appetizers, dinner, dessert,

singing, games and more.

We hope you can all come and enjoy an evening of fellowship.

Prayer for Floyd & Annie

Please be in prayer for Floyd and Annie over the next few days!

Floyd has come down with a flu bug and a temperature of 102.2.  Please pray for his (very) quick, and full recovery, and that Annie would not catch this bug.  They are scheduled to fly home from Taiwan on Monday.

 

June (7th) Get-Together

Oh yes, it is that time of the year… the days are heating up and the beaches are getting full. That means we will be having a (no kids) Among Friends BBQ and Game Night June 7^th at 6:00pm at Dean and Heather’s house. We will be eating great food, playing games, and, in general, kicking off the summer in style.  

Now on to the BBQ… Since we live in a democratic country and the presidential elections are here, we shall have a vote. We will go with one or the other.

Option #1:
Dean and Heather have offered to cook a really nice dinner. They would BBQ Steaks and Chicken with sides of twice baked and a gratin potatoes, salad and veggies. A dinner like this will be pretty expensive so we would need to collect $25-30 per couple to afford the food, but I hear that Dean has a wicked seasoning rack at his house.

Option #2:
Dean and Heather are still on the hook to BBQ but the menu will change. We would get some carne asada from Vallarta to make tacos / burritos, tortillas (corn and flour), beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, chips and dip. This would only be $10 per couple.

We will also have an “Ice Cream Bar” for dessert, pot-luck style (we will all bring ice cream or toppints).

Please let Richard & Alicia know ASAP what option you prefer, and if you are planning to bring ice cream or a topping that night. Once we get a consensus, we will ask all of you to please bring your money to Among Friends so we can purchase all of this.

Prayer Requests (5/4/08)

Please pray for Timothy’s parents who are in Australia.  They are visiting family and raising money for their school.  Praise the Lord that they arrived safely, and continue to pray for safety while they travel within the country.
