Find some time in the next week to listen to Pastor Hegg’s sermon from this weekend, if you weren’t here to hear it. Pastor has been leading us through the letter to the Hebrews, noting they no longer saw the need to regularly attend the assembly of believers. Because our union with Christ also means a union with all who are followers of Christ, we need to be consistent, not because it is convenient to us, but because it is so important to the Body. If we are truly children of God, we will want to set a priority to gather weekly (for worship, prayer, fellowship in ABF’s, etc.) to praise, learn, love, and remind ourselves that we are rehearsing a little bit of Heaven here on earth. Welcome to Among Friends Online – Your online spot to find out what’s happening in our Adult Bible Fellowship.

Among Friends is a unique blend of thirty-something married couples who gather to learn from God’s Word and encourage one another. On this site you’ll find out what the current teaching series we’re going through on Sunday morning, who has snacks for the upcoming weeks (as well as what weeks we may be in need), and when the class gathers for socials or additional Bible studies or growth sessions.

Please contact Kristine Weatherly if you haven’t had your photo snapped for our pictorial bulletin board in the back of the room.

Check back here often to find out what’s happening.

You’ll notice we’re starting up the blog again. Kristine Weatherly has agreed to help with the maintenance of this site.

We’re wrapping up our Marriage: Survive or Thrive series with the last two session on schooling options. The response has been outstanding for this series and I thank each of you for your support and encouragement! Six of the lessons we covered have been downloaded on line at SermonCloud.com (http://www.sermoncloud.com/among-friends/recent/), if you want to go back and listen to them. The teaching team is considering our next series and we’ll let you all know shortly what that will be!

Happy birthday to those of you who had January birthdays (Sheri and Melody)

According to the info we have so far, those having birthdays in February: Nathan Parsons 2/3 and Deena Bondarczuk 2/22. Not known anniversaries appear to fall in February. There are still a few blanks on in the directory for birthdays and anniversaries, so help Kristine out by getting those dates to her ASAP.

Keep watching this spot for more updates to Among Friends Online!

God bless & Grace 2 U,

Christmas 2011

A fun night at the Parsons

Ever feel like you’re drinking from a fire hose?

If I’m reading your faces on Sunday mornings correctly, you’re all a little overwhelmed with the material we’re covering in the Family Matters series. Please don’t let that get you down. I’m not trying to beat you up or bully you into anything. The whole purpose of the study has been to get you all thinking about how you’re leading your families, bringing up your children, thinking about the future.  Hang in there with us! None of us are experts. However, if you truly open your hearts and minds to the message behind the Family Matters series, you won’t avoid all the pit falls in raising a family, but you will be able to avoid many and make some very wise, godly decisions for yourself and your family along the way.

In prep for next week, re-read Deuteronomy 6:1-10, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:1-4, and Psalm 127. As we wrap the study up, and you give some solid thought to the directions and promises found in these passages, I’m sure you will find God’s hand deftly guiding you as your invest your lived into your children.

God Bless & Grace 2 U,

Ron

Hi everyone!

So, here’s a quick update on what’s been happening behind the scenes with the July 11 outreach!  If you are able to help out in any of the following ways please let me know.  I certainly do not want anyone to feel obligated or overcommitted so please only do what you can.  Our time is short and there’s quite a bit to do!  Thanks for helping where you can!

I’m very excited about this outreach for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is because I see this as a powerful day to see how God uses the family of believers to love and encourage each other.  And out of the overflow of that bless those whom our brothers and sisters are reaching out to.  We are going to be so encouraged by our brothers and sisters at Open Arms, World Impact, and the Union Rescue Mission!  And I pray we’ll be of encouragement to their hearts as well.

This will be a busy day full of many opportunities to serve so we want to keep things as streamlined as possible in order to keep from focusing on things and keep the focus on people.  We’re planning for 500 families so we’ll be pre-bagging 1,000 bags (or more we hope!) of groceries and loading up a truck the night before – Friday, July 10 from 5-8pm.

Here’s how some of you may be able help – (July 11 is a regular FP delivery date)

500 Fruit boxes with lids from grocery stores – to stack pre-bagged groceries in and transport by truck (boxed to prevent damage during transport as well as easily store larger quantity)
1,000 grocery bags – reusable is preferred so they’ll be easier for the families to carry, however we’ll take paper for sure if that’s what we can get.
Bread donations? – Panera, Western Bagel, Bible Tabernacle
Grants to shop for supplemental food – from Sams
Supplemental shopping – orders will be placed.  We need people to pick up the items from various stores

Pick oranges – Piru – tentatively week prior in order to utilize the fruit for the outreach.  The owner is checking her schedule in order to confirm a date.  (July 5,6,7,8)

Pre-bag the groceries on Friday, July 10 5-8pm

If you would like to volunteer for either pre-bag or the day of the event just let me know or sign up over the weekend at the information counter.  We’ll be leaving from the church by bus on Saturday morning at 7am sharp!

Thank you!
Sheri
